The necropolis discovered in the Al
Dekerman site was constructed atop an earlier settlement that dates back to the
Chalcolithic Age (4000–3500 BCE). This ancient habitation was composed of
oval-shaped huts and is considered the largest such settlement ever unearthed
in the city of Sidon—second in archaeological significance only to the ancient
colony of Byblos (Jbeil).
La nécropole
découverte sur le site d’Al Dekerman fut érigée au sommet d’un habitat plus
ancien, remontant à l’Âge du Chalcolithique (4000–3500 avant J.-C.). Cette
ancienne habitation, composée de huttes en forme ovale, est considérée comme le
plus vaste établissement de ce type jamais exhumé dans la ville de Sidon —
n’étant devancée en importance archéologique que par la colonie antique de
Byblos (Jbeil).

كانت تقع على مستوطنة تعود إلى العصر الحجري النحاسي (4000-3500ق.م) والتي كانت
فيها أكواخ بيضاوية الشكل ؛ إنها أوسع مستوطنة عثر عليها في مدينة صيدا والثانية
في الأهمية بعد مستعمرة جبيل .
